Irving, TX Event Recap

Irving, TX – May 14, 2009
City of Irving Texas Heritage Senior Center

The Patchwork of Hope NetworkTM (P.H.N.) launched back into action in the Dallas area for its second event. The day before the P.H.N. event, the team disseminated educational materials to the nearly 2,000 older Americans who attended the 15th Annual Older Americans Month Health Fair, hosted by Dallas Area Rapid Transit and the Dallas Area Agency on Aging. After the health fair, the campaign set up shop at the City of Irving Texas Heritage Senior Activities Center, where local physician, Dr. John Claude Krusz, joined an after-shingles pain sufferer and representatives from the National Council on Aging and the National Pain Foundation to spread the word about shingles and after-shingles pain. The educational seminar attracted more than 140 attendees, many of whom had suffered from shingles or after-shingles pain.

The quilting portion of the Dallas event went exceedingly well, with members from the Irving Quilt Guild on site to provide assistance and support to those decorating squares. Sixty-three squares were completed, which the Irving Quilt Guild will sew together to create a 9’x7’ quilt.
