Patchwork of Hope NetworkTM
About the Quilt
Stitch by stitch and square by square, the Patchwork of Hope NetworkTM (P.H.N.) quilt sews together individuals and their support network afflicted by postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), or after-shingles pain. Each quilt square represents a personal story and a struggle to overcome the often debilitating pain of PHN. Each square helps to build a community of individuals who come together with a common goal: to raise awareness of PHN and to build hope for a life after the pain caused by the condition. It is a handmade memorial and testimonial to those who suffer, and a reminder that they do not have to face the pain of PHN alone.
Two quilts have been constructed — one online and one handmade. Due to the overwhelming support for the campaign through the creation of online and offline quilt squares, Endo Pharmaceuticals Inc. has made a $5,000 donation to the Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA) to support shingles and PHN education.
The handmade P.H.N. quilt was unveiled on PHN Awareness Day, September 15, 2009. If you would like to continue supporting this cause by creating a virtual quilt square, click here.
